We spent a full day at the Kennedy Space Centre which was a really interesting and informative day for me. As someone who knows pretty much nothing about space and rockets and NASA, I still found the whole Centre to be really interesting.
They had so many different interactive and hands on activities and displays – which is definitely up our alleys. One of the coolest things we saw/experienced there was a rocket launch simulator which was more impressive than some (read: most) of the rides at Disneyland.
Another thing that we did that was really special was that we paid a little bit extra for the Lunch With an Astronaut experience. Astronaut, Sam Gemar gave a really light hearted and fun presentation about his previous work and involvement with NASA as well as telling us about his missions to space and what it’s like being up there. He had a great sense of humour too which added to the experience. The food was also amazing – it was a buffet style, but cooked by decent chefs. After travelling around so much with limited food options – Lincoln and I were so pleased to have some nice green broccoli! Lincoln asked Sam if he had always wanted to be an Astronaut to which he responded quickly and certainly “Oh yeah.”
After having some time to think about it – other than the lunch, my favourite things about the day were the simulator, the bus tour that takes you to another location and also the Atlantis exhibition.
I also made a video on the day that you can check out here if you would like.
