Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a 1937 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by RKO Radio Pictures. Based on the German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, it is the first full-length cel animated feature film and the earliest in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series.” Thanks wiki!

  • Picture Quality
    • Lincoln – 8
      • For the time it was good quality
    • Sara – 4
      • Pretty average compared to what we have now
  • Durability
    • Lincoln – 3
    • Sara – 4
  • Songs
    • Lincoln – 3
      • The only song i know is heigh-ho but nothing else is memorable
    • Sara – 2
      • Not catchy at all
  • Modern Values
    • Lincoln – 2
      • Good example of the poor representation of women in early Disney films needing help to do anything and the whole “happily ever after” thing is unhealthy.
    • Sara – 3
      • Classic example of the men working and woman cooking and cleaning and being reliant on men.
  • Would We Show it to the Kids
    • Lincoln – 4
      • It’s not relevant enough and they probably wouldn’t find it interesting.
    • Sara – 9
      • I think it would be a good example to show kids where Disney films started and how it’s progressed. It has an easy storyline to follow.
  • Flow/Length
    • Lincoln – 4
      • The scene where the dwarfs find Snow White took ages.
    • Sara – 6
      • Some scenes took a while but I think as a whole it was a good length.
  • Emotional Attachment
    • Lincoln – 2
      • Didn’t care about any of the characters. Least of all, Snow White.
    • Sara – 7
      • I don’t know.
  • Logic/Plot Holes
    • Lincoln – 5
      • Why were the dwarfs working in a mine (who are they working for?) and why did the queen need such an elaborate plot to kill Snow White. Why did Snow White run off with someone she didn’t know.
    • Sara – 7
      • I have a lot of questions but I think with most older films and films targeted at kids, there are plot holes that you choose to overlook.
  • General Enjoyment
    • Lincoln – 6
    • Sara – 7
  • Would We Watch it Again
    • Lincoln – 2
    • Sara – 5
      • Probably only to show the kids
  • Final Comment
    • Lincoln – It sounds like I didn’t like the film, but for the age of the film and the time it was set, it’s very well made.
    • Sara – Because of the age of the film it’s sometimes hard to hear the dialogue and the lyrics of the songs. Despite the questions I have about the plot, it’s really easy to follow and understand what’s happening. I like it!

Favourite Character

  • Lincoln – Grumpy, he seemed to be the smartest one.
  • Sara – I think all the characters were incredibly flawed. Can I choose a woodland animal? Like one of the random deers? The turtle? If not, maybe Dopey because I feel sorry for him.

Favourite Song

  • Lincoln – None of them
  • Sara – Probably Heigh-Ho because it’s the only one I remember. But I don’t actually like it

Favourite Moment

  • Lincoln – When the witch made the poison I liked how she created the different elements for the disguise.
  • Sara – When Snow White and the animals are cleaning the house.
